Albert Smith 1888 Victorian Portrait

Meet Albert D. Smith, a respected physician, was born on September 8th, 1832, in Thomasville, GA.

He married Orpha Lee Edmondson, and they had seven sons and three daughters together. In 1888, Albert traveled to Dallas, TX, where this photograph was taken when he was approximately 57 years old.

Albert passed away on July 4th, 1900, at the age of 67, shortly after his wife Orpha's passing, and is buried in Fredonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomas County. His headstone features a Masonic seal and a poignant epitaph: "Amiable and Beloved Father Fare Well Not On This Perishing Stone But In The Book of Life and In The Hearts of Thy Afflicted Friends Is Thy Worth Recorded." He is buried alongside his wife.
